Family Trees and Roots

Cassam Uteem, the former Mauritian President, a son of a migrant Indian when he visited India he said of the family roots "A very special bond, a mystical link and sentiments that are confused and intense".

The prime reason behind family Tree records are to foster a sense of belonging and family feeling. To experience this sentiment, one must have " a historical continuity with the past is a basic need It may even lead to a new Indian Joint family that stays together even if it does not stay together.

I do not know how many families can trace back twelve [ 12 ] generations [FEB-2009].Let us be proud of our lineage and twelve generations of continuity .Level of pride reaches higher dimensions when you know that this family from the tiny village of Menapuram / Chokli, near Thalasserry [Tellicherry] in Kerala has spread far and wide, across India and the globe.
A family consisting of many achievers, Doctors, Engineers, Professionals, Professors Writers and the ordinary mortals. Many moved up the social ladder and occupied dominant positions in the society, Government, corporate world. Assuming positions of respectability and power …

Our family tree, as far as we can go back, starts off around 1734 . ORACHERY GURUS -five members of a family were known by this title in their grown up stage- were three sons & 2 nephews[-sisters children] of Kannan Vaidyer. Kannan Vaidyar & his family were originally from Poyiloor. He was a native physician & eking out a living by leasing [Pattam] land from Nair community for cultivation. Unable to stand the Nair community's oppression, the family moved from Poyiloor to a place 7 miles [11.2km] away[ near Menapiram ] & set up house at a property called Puthisseri. From then on the family is also known as members of Puthisseri Tharavad. –premnath
